GE Planning Appeal Has Been Dismissed

GE Aviation Planning Appeal has been dismissed
Eastleigh Borough Council has confirmed that the Planning Inspectorate has dismissed the appeal made by GE Aviation, after the initial planning application was rejected last summer and a public enquiry was held in November 2020.
The application was for 148 residential units together with a new vehicle access and associated infrastructure on the site of GE Aviation (now known as Hamble Aerostructures).
The main reasons stated for the refusal were highways issues including insufficient mitigation of the increased level of traffic on the already congested Hamble Lane; a reduction in the quality of the cycle route and increased risk of conflict with users of Coronation Parade. The impact of the scheme on the countryside, character and appearance of the area was also cited as a reason for refusal.
