Councillor Vacancy: Could You Make a Difference in Hamble?

Hamble Parish Council is inviting applications to fill a vacant Parish Councillor position by co-option.

Becoming a Parish Councillor is an opportunity to get involved in decisions affecting Hamble and to play an active role in supporting the local community.

What does being a Parish Councillor involve?

Parish Councillors contribute to Council meetings, discussions and decisions on matters affecting the village. The role requires a regular commitment of time to attend meetings, read relevant papers and stay informed about issues being considered by the Council.

We want anyone considering applying to have a clear understanding of what the role involves before putting themselves forward.

Prospective applicants are therefore encouraged to:

  • Visit the Parish Office and speak to the Clerk about the role
  • Attend a Parish Council meeting as an observer
  • Find out more about the Council’s work and the commitment involved

Who can apply?

We welcome applications from people with a wide range of backgrounds, skills and experiences.

Experience in areas such as HR or finance would be particularly beneficial to the Council, but this is not a requirement. There are many different ways that your knowledge, experience and understanding of the local community could contribute.

Most importantly, we are looking for people who are interested in Hamble, willing to contribute their time and keen to play an active part in the work of the Parish Council.

Applicants should also be available to attend a Council meeting in November 2026 as part of the co-option process.
