Friends of Westfield Common

Friends of Westfield Common

Friends of Westfield Common has been set up, with the help of Hamble Parish Council, by a group of residents concerned with improving the condition of the common. They would love for like-minded people, who will take pride in the Common, to join their group.

Friends of Westfield Common have set themselves a target to improve the area and make it an area to be proud of by working to deter anti-social behaviour and fly-tipping. The plan is to do such things as remove the non-native species of flowers and trees and to set up a wild bluebell area by the bridle path, once the ivy has been removed. They would also like to create an amenity area by the gun emplacement and provide bird boxes, bat boxes and owl boxes to encourage more wildlife.

The Friends are looking for volunteers to help in any capacity that they can, such as litter-picking at a group event.

Your help on a voluntary basis is needed and would be very much appreciated.
