HCC Highway Mitigations – Letter of Challenge

We understand that the mitigation discussions and negotiations between Cemex and Hampshire Highways are nearly complete. These discussions have been confidential.

Hamble Parish Council has today written to Hampshire County Council (HCC) to challenge these confidential discussions and what we believe to be a wholly inadequate consultation with the local community.

By failing to be transparent about the proposed mitigation package, we believe that HCC and Hampshire Highways have made it impossible for any third party (such as Hamble Parish Council) to understand if the mitigations Cemex has offered are relevant to our community in Hamble.

In our letter to HCC, we have asked Hampshire Highways to publish full details of the package of proposed mitigations as soon as possible. This can then allow the community and other consultees to provide feedback on the proposed mitigations before the HCC planning case officer issues the final report and recommendation to the Regulatory Committee.
