The Future of Hamble Airfield – What’s Happened Since 4 March 2022?

Hampshire County Council (HCC) has confirmed that they have received around 1,050 representations regarding Cemex’s quarry application. There are still a few more to come – but Hamble has done its best to make its concerns heard. Thank you and well done to everyone!

Hamble Parish Council will meet on Monday 14 March 2022 and vote on/confirm our objections, before submitting our response to Hampshire County Council.

Our response to HCC will be shared on our website, in the next newsletter and on social media.

𝗪𝗵𝗮𝘁 𝗶𝘀 𝗛𝗣𝗖’𝘀 𝗿𝗲𝘀𝗽𝗼𝗻𝘀𝗲 𝗹𝗶𝗸𝗲𝗹𝘆 𝘁𝗼 𝘀𝗮𝘆?

Our response will not cover all issues – but will focus on the main areas of concern which are linked to issues around: traffic, congestion, safety and air quality, the arrangements for the management of the site, and aspects of the operations such as the offset between people’s homes and the activity and the impact it will have on people’s quality of life. This doesn’t mean that we don’t think the other areas are important – rather that we know other agencies are leading on them.

𝗪𝗵𝗮𝘁 𝗰𝗼𝗺𝗲𝘀 𝗻𝗲𝘅𝘁?

HCC’s case officer for the application will be chasing outstanding responses from Statutory Consultees, and in particular the Highway Authority, before reviewing each of the responses submitted so far. Given the number of responses, this review will take some time. Although things may go quiet for a few weeks, it doesn’t mean that work isn’t happening.
