Further to last week's Exhibition of the Draft Minerals & Waste Plan, HCC has now published a set of FAQs. These can be found here: cemex.hambleparishcouncil.gov.uk/document/hcc-minerals-waste-review-faqs-nov22/

As we have outlined in previous posts, this internal review by HCC of the vision and policies in the Minerals and Waste Plan is unlikely to directly affect the current Hamble Airfield Planning Application submitted by Cemex due to timings, but it is an opportunity for residents to argue how unsuitable the site is for quarrying.

For details on how to respond to the consultation, please see cemex.hambleparishcouncil.gov.uk/mineral-waste/

Eastleigh Borough Council (EBC) reviews its parking charges for The Square annually, and this year’s review will take place at the Local Area Committee meeting this Thursday evening, 1 December at 6pm.

𝗪𝗵𝗮𝘁 𝗱𝗼 𝘆𝗼𝘂 𝗻𝗲𝗲𝗱 𝘁𝗼 𝗸𝗻𝗼𝘄?

EBC is proposing to:
- remove free parking for the first 30 minutes, and charge 50p instead, and
- increase the hourly charge from 80p to £1.00 per hour

People who currently use the 30 minutes of free parking to pop into the local shops or use local amenities will be affected by these changes, as too will be the local businesses who rely upon this trade.

As your Parish Council, we have highlighted the problems this will cause and have asked EBC to look at alternatives. You too now have a chance to influence the decision by attending the Local Area Committee meeting on Thursday night.

𝗗𝗮𝘁𝗲 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗧𝗶𝗺𝗲: Thursday 1 December, from 6pm

𝗩𝗲𝗻𝘂𝗲: Pilands Wood Centre, Chamberlayne Rd, Southampton SO31 8DT

If you wish to speak at the meeting, please contact: Catherine Collins, Democratic Services Officer, email: catherine.collins@eastleigh.gov.uk. Alternatively you can contact Ross McClean, Local Area Manager at ross.mcclean@eastleigh.gov.uk

Please note that there is no change proposed to the residents’ annual parking permit scheme, which will remain at £100 for the first permit, and a further £100 for the second permit.

We fought long and hard for that free half hour when The Square was “regenerated”. Please try not to let it go!

Hamble residents need to also be aware that hampshire country council will be taking over the streets from April (that may need checking) so your residents permits will be issued by them so may increase in the future and may affect permits which maybe valid in the square car park. I can't help but think removing the 30 minutes free will only increase the parking outside the co op and increase damage to the paving??

Sadly I am unable to attend the meeting. If the ‘free 30 mins’ gets scrapped people will stop using the Co op/jennys/other for a quick shop/bite to eat/collect food. Eastleigh council need to think again.

Me again. Please don't let this happen. It WILL have a knock on effect for our village even if it's being a bloody nuisance parking where the busses and lorries park. Also why?

Greedy

Is Disabled free to park ?

It would be pertinent and fair to have a list of all car parks under EBC to compare charges and fairness ?
