Mount Pleasant Car Park Closure & Partial Access 6 February to c.28 March 2025

From 6 February, a new Play Area will be installed at Mount Pleasant. Due to contractors and heavy machinery being on site, we need to restrict access to the Mount Pleasant Car Park during this period to ensure everyone’s safety.

We appreciate that these works will cause temporary disruption – particularly to those who rely on the Mount Pleasant Car Park. Hamble Parish Council has worked with Hamble Primary School and our contractor to find a solution to minimise this disruption, whilst still allowing children safe access to school, and avoiding unsafe drop-offs and congestion.

When is the car park closed?

The car park closure and partial access dates and times are listed below.

Where possible, we encourage families to walk, ride, or use public transport to get to school during the construction period. One week of the build takes place during half-term (17-21 Feb 2025) to help minimise the parking disruption.

Where can I park instead?

Parking has been made available at the Roy Underdown Pavillion car park between 8am and 10am, and 2pm and 4pm, Mondays to Fridays. This is an 11-minute walk along the Rail Trail or a 12-minute walk along Baron Rd, Verdon Avenue and across Hamble Lane.

We kindly ask for your help to ensure we are all considerate to the neighbours of the school and please avoid parking in the adjacent residential roads or the business park.

We thank everyone – especially the Primary School and families – during this period of disruption and look forward to sharing the new Play Area with you in early April.

Mt Pleasant Car Park Closure & Partial Access – Dates and Times:

Thursday 6 February from 7.30am-4pm – Car Park Closed

• The Mt Pleasant Car Park will be closed so contractors can safely set up the construction area.

From Friday 7 February to approx. Friday 28 March 2025:

Mondays-Fridays:

• 8am-10am – Car Park Closed
  The Mt Pleasant car park will be fully closed during school pick-up and drop-
  off times. Parking at Roy Underdown Pavilion is available, and is a 10 minute
  walk along the Rail Trail.
• 10am-2pm – Partial Access to Car Park
  Half the car park will be open during the day for recreational use, dog
  walkers and others who enjoy Mt Pleasant field.
• 2pm-4pm – Car Park Closed
  The Mt Pleasant car park will be fully closed during school pick-up and drop-
  off times.
• After 4pm and overnight to 8am – Partial Access to Car Park
  Part of the car park will remain open after 4pm for after school clubs and
  others who need to park

Saturdays and Sundays – Partial Access to Car Park
Part of the car park will stay open on weekends from Friday at 4pm to Monday at 8am, and will be available for football matches and other recreational users on Saturdays and Sundays.
